Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Oliver Peoples Eyewear has announced the new face of their 2009 campaign, and that face is that of actress Zooey Deschanel. Deschanel has been in feature films such as Almost Famous (a personal favorite of mine) and M. Night Shymalan’s The Happening. This fresh face definitely appeals to a broad spectrum of people for her acting skills, musical ability as a member of indie-rock band She and Him, and for her very stylish ways.
Musician Matt Costa will also be starring in the campaign along side Deschanel. Costa is part of Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Records roster and was once a skateboarder that could have been pro had it not been for a series of painful surgeries. While healing, the singer/songwriter pursued his musical career which has certainly come into its own in recent years.
Photographer Autumn de Wilde rounds out the campaign as the one shooting the two stars for Oliver Peoples. She has photographed some of the biggest names in music including folks the likes of Beck, The White Stripes and Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley, and she has had her work featured in many world-renowned periodicals such as Vanity Fair, W, and Rolling Stone.
The last campaign that featured legendary producer Rober Evans, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The sharp images shot in black and white told a brilliant tale of Hollywood glamour and scandals of yesteryear. If the new campaign is anything like this, then Oliver Peoples will have hit back-to-back homeruns in consecutive years.

As part of its regional marketing strategy to promote its new collection, Persol, the Italian luxury eyewear brand, has signed leading Arabic singing superstar, Ragheb Alama, as the brand ambassador for Middle East and North Africa. Ragheb Alama is the perfect endorser for Persol as he represents a style icon with a strong personality as the Italian eyewear brand Persol has. Moreover, one of his strongest success, the song “Nasseny Eldonia” (make me forget the world) was one of the greatest hits an Arab singer ever made and the video was shot in Italy.
